Hope

You must first know that it is possible to receive before you can know that you will receive.

Hope is knowing that you can receive a desire in the future. The possibility of receiving encourages our heart and gives us Hope.   A desire becomes a Hope when we discover a reason for its expectation.  The strength of the reason, determines the strength of the corresponding expectation.  We know what we can have by learning what He has given us, and what He has given us is expressed as promises in the Bible.  The good news of the Gospel is that all the promises of God are a resounding yes through faith in Jesus Christ.  And Hope matured brings us faith.

We must develop hope’s promises into full assurance (faith)

The promises in the Bible that provide hope to our desires must be planted in a heart that is clean and well cared for. Once these seeds of hope bring forth a harvest, faith is borne in the heart. We control the planting and the condition of the soil. God controls the harvest.

..But we are strongly desirous that each of you exhibit the same diligence which will develop your hope into full assurance until the end, in order that you may become, not sluggish, but imitators of those who through faith and patience are now inheriting the promises. Hebrews 6:11, 12 Wuest Expanded Translation

manlookingupFaith is the reality of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Hebrews 11:1

A Hope becomes a reality when God conveys its reality to our heart.  He changes the expectation into a reality.  The desire and its hope are given reality through the agency of Faith.

Jesus is the object of our Hope, and we patiently wait for Him in Faith.  He is the Hope for which we are in Faith.  He is real whether we know it or not.  He becomes a reality to us when we know that He is a reality, and we know He is a reality by the Faith in our hearts.  He does not change – we are the ones who change – when we receive the impartation of His reality from God into our hearts.  We receive the reality of something that already is, and it becomes our reality.  This impartation, this ‘hearing’ from God, is the evidence of things not seen (to the world).

Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God (Christ).  Romans 10:17

Desire gives us focus, Hope gives us expectation, and Faith gives us reality.  The Desire is the purpose and Faith is the means.
