Prayer of Hope?

There is no such thing in the Bible as a prayer of hope. Hope is a step before faith. Hope considers the answer a possibility, faith knows that the answer is a reality. Hope expects it someday, faith has it now. Hope is in the future, faith is in the now. Faith possesses the reality of the answer in the spirit, and knows that it will come to pass. Hope is a belief in the general promises of God, faith is a belief in the specific will and promise of God.

Hope considers the answer a possibility, faith knows that the answer is a reality.

Prayer is based on faith and not hope. We are told to believe when we pray, not hope.

Jesus replied to them, “Have faith in God. I assure you: If anyone says to this mountain, ‘Be lifted up and thrown into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says will happen, it will be done for him. 24 Therefore, I tell you, all the things you pray and ask for -believe that you have received them, and you will have them.  Mark 11:22, 23, 24 Holman Christian Standard Bible

We are told that the prayer of faith will save and heal us.

The prayer of faith will save the sick person, and the Lord will raise him up; and if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. James 5:15 Holman Christian Standard Bible

Hope gives us an expectation of God’s will and motivates us on to seek Him in the process of faith.  Prayer is the spoken release of faith and not hope.

Hope is the mind’s expectation of God’s will

Faith is the heart’s reality of God’s will

Now faith is the reality of what is hoped for, the proof of what is not seen.  Hebrews 11:1 Holman Christian Standard Bible

I am completley without focus. I am a stubborn child who is looking for help. I came to this website to feel uplifted and get a better understanding of what having faith and hope is. I am on probation and did wrong by doing drugs. I wont do it again. I just dont want to go to jail. I want God to hear my cry and give me another chance. I want to fix my issues out here not in there. Yesterday my officer left it said that she wants and will send me to prison. But I believe God’s authority is the strongest. I feel it coming within a week and I just keep telling myself that I wont go back. That God wont let me.. i dont know if I deserve it. Like i said I am so out of focus right now. Please pray for me. Pray that I may be forgiven and granted another chance and willing change for the best out here instead of behind bars.

Leah, You are not old and you are not ugly. The feelings that you have right now about yourself comes from the abuse you endured. I ask you to see the person you really are. You are Beautiful, Your are Strong, and when you see yourself in that way others will see that in you too. Love has already found you, Jesus loves you and he is and will always be there for you. I Pray that you find and love yourself and then God will send the person who was designed for you, to you.

22 “Have faith in God,” Jesus answered. 23 “I tell you the truth, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen, it will be done for him. 24 Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. Mark 11:22-24 (New International Version)

Please forgive my sins. Pray for my beloved son, Emmanuel, to return home.

    • Wendy,
God bless you. I will pray that Emmanuel is safe, forgives you, and that he returns home. This is tough but do not blame and beat yourself. My daughter was gone for a good while. She has since come back, joined the Army, and is not married with a child. When you ask forgiveness from God, He is faithful to forgive, but you also must also forgive yourself. Do not let the devil keep bringing back the past to beat you over the head. Do not listen to him. God has forgiven you. It is a brand new day. Study the scriptures and be quiet so you can listen to God.

I’m blessed to know god, but have walked alone without his grace for awhile…Please say a prayer for me….Thanks

My younger brother John is in jail for a mistake that he deeply regret having commit. He has been there for about 3 months now and he is starting to question his faith. He is starting to believe that God has forgotten about him, which makes me very sad. I know that God doesn’t give up on his children, that there is a reason for His doings. Please pray for my dear brother, I hope that he doesn’t give up on himself or God.

    • Jennifer,

We will pray for both you and your brother. It’s a tough thing. God forgives but the world’s system still demands its consequences. There is however access to divine mercy and supernatural favor through faith. I have heard of miraculous releases and significant shortenings of jail times. To receive this divine involvement however requires an active effort of believing. He cannot be passive about this.

Repentance brings the cleansing; faith brings full redemption. We all deserve to have gone to the eternal jail of hell. Fortunately, Jesus paid our price and received the sentence that we deserved, so we wouldn’t have to go. We were not acquitted – we actually were guilty, but we did not have to do our ‘time’ because Jesus did it instead. Our task is to repent and accept His payment, and then to actively believe Him for our early release. The hard truth is – it may take time. The good news is – the more he focuses on building his faith and trusting in God, the easier the wait and the shorter the time.

God is with him and He definitely has not forsaken him. His life is not over, not by a long shot. God did not put him there, he did it himself, but God can get him out. It will take obedience and faith, but it is a real possibility. The knowledge of that possibility, produces hope. Hope is the first step, because Hope motivates and it creates something on which faith can work. For Hebrews 11:1 says, ‘faith is the reality of things hoped for’ (God’s Word Translation). Both of you must first see his early release as a possibility, and then by seeking God and by seeking pertinent promises in His word, you can turn that possibility into a reality.

I will pray for you. I will pray that you will be strong and that you will be able to say the things that will encourage him. God is faithful and His mercy is available. God loves those in jail. He said so in His word and I know so because I had a ministry to a local prison for ten years. God is there, and he is not alone.

You can’t do it for him. He must do it for himself, but you can help, and he can do it. Others have. God bless you both,

      Rex
