Prayer of Hope?

blood-moon-church-320-webThere is no such thing in the Bible as a prayer of hope. Hope is a step before faith. Hope considers the answer a possibility, faith knows that the answer is a reality. Hope expects it someday, faith has it now. Hope is in the future, faith is in the now. Faith possesses the reality of the answer in the spirit, and knows that it will come to pass. Hope is a belief in the general promises of God, faith is a belief in the specific will and promise of God.

Hope considers the answer a possibility, faith knows that the answer is a reality.

Prayer is based on faith and not hope. We are told to believe when we pray, not hope.

Jesus replied to them, “Have faith in God. I assure you: If anyone says to this mountain, ‘Be lifted up and thrown into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says will happen, it will be done for him. 24 Therefore, I tell you, all the things you pray and ask for -believe that you have received them, and you will have them.  Mark 11:22, 23, 24 Holman Christian Standard Bible

We are told that the prayer of faith will save and heal us.

The prayer of faith will save the sick person, and the Lord will raise him up; and if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. James 5:15 Holman Christian Standard Bible

Hope gives us an expectation of God’s will and motivates us on to seek Him in the process of faith.  Prayer is the spoken release of faith and not hope.

Hope is the mind’s expectation of God’s will
Faith is the heart’s reality of God’s will

Now faith is the reality of what is hoped for, the proof of what is not seen.  Hebrews 11:1 Holman Christian Standard Bible.

  2. Many thanks for excellent articles/teachings.
I perceived that desire and hope dwell in the realm of soul and faith settles in the spirit of a man. This explains the emphasis on the need for the Word to dwell in our hearts to produce miracles.

Josie – I can’t help find your way, but of course God can help in every way. He desires to help and guide you. All of us feel lost and are lost without Him. Repent and ask Jesus into your heart as your Lord and Savior. Ask the Holy Spirit to come in and fill your heart with His presence too. Ask Him to guide you and lead you.

Read and speak to yourself any scriptures on this site that speak or jump out at you. You will not feel or sense anything at first but keep it up and do not stop, you will. Read the articles on faith and hearing from God. Then seek Him and praise him. Expect a change.

God will change you and guide you. Seek Him and listen for Him. You probably won’t hear Him right away but DO NOT STOP. He will speak but you must persevere – this is called the walk of faith. Hope and motivation will come to your heart first, and later a harvest of faith will appear. His voice will bring faith and peace. It will guide you alone the way for your life. He will do it. We love you. Rex

      Wendy,
God bless you. I will pray that Emmanuel is safe, forgives you, and that he returns home. This is tough but do not blame and beat yourself. My daughter was gone for a good while. She has since come back, joined the Army, and is not married with a child. When you ask forgiveness from God, He is faithful to forgive, but you also must also forgive yourself. Do not let the devil keep bringing back the past to beat you over the head. Do not listen to him. God has forgiven you. It is a brand new day. Study the scriptures and be quiet so you can listen to God.

  19. My younger brother John is in jail for a mistake that he deeply regret having commit. He has been there for about 3 months now and he is starting to question his faith. He is starting to believe that God has forgotten about him, which makes me very sad. I know that God doesn’t give up on his children, that there is a reason for His doings. Please pray for my dear brother, I hope that he doesn’t give up on himself or God.

      Jennifer,

We will pray for both you and your brother. It’s a tough thing. God forgives but the world’s system still demands its consequences. There is however access to divine mercy and supernatural favor through faith. I have heard of miraculous releases and significant shortenings of jail times. To receive this divine involvement however requires an active effort of believing. He cannot be passive about this.

Repentance brings the cleansing; faith brings full redemption. We all deserve to have gone to the eternal jail of hell. Fortunately, Jesus paid our price and received the sentence that we deserved, so we wouldn’t have to go. We were not acquitted – we actually were guilty, but we did not have to do our ‘time’ because Jesus did it instead. Our task is to repent and accept His payment, and then to actively believe Him for our early release. The hard truth is – it may take time. The good news is – the more he focuses on building his faith and trusting in God, the easier the wait and the shorter the time.

God is with him and He definitely has not forsaken him. His life is not over, not by a long shot. God did not put him there, he did it himself, but God can get him out. It will take obedience and faith, but it is a real possibility. The knowledge of that possibility, produces hope. Hope is the first step, because Hope motivates and it creates something on which faith can work. For Hebrews 11:1 says, ‘faith is the reality of things hoped for’ (God’s Word Translation). Both of you must first see his early release as a possibility, and then by seeking God and by seeking pertinent promises in His word, you can turn that possibility into a reality.

I will pray for you. I will pray that you will be strong and that you will be able to say the things that will encourage him. God is faithful and His mercy is available. God loves those in jail. He said so in His word and I know so because I had a ministry to a local prison for ten years. God is there, and he is not alone.

You can’t do it for him. He must do it for himself, but you can help, and he can do it. Others have. God bless you both,

      Rex
