“If It Be Thy Will”

aajesushealingthelunatic-300-webHow come Jesus never uttered the words, “if it be His will” when deciding if someone was to receive a blessing?  But rather, why was it always something along the lines of “be it unto you according to your faith, or, “your faith has made you whole?”  Why was faith mentioned and the will of God never mentioned?  Is the will of God not important?

Poppycock, the will of God is of all importance, but the promise of God is always the will of God. That’s the inherent nature of a promise.  The only variable is whether we are in the right condition and position to receive the promise.  Meeting the conditions of a promise does not activate the will of God, it activates faith in the will of God. The faith receives the promise, which is the will of God.

Meeting the conditions of a promise activates faith in our heart.

Having faith is the sign that you have met the conditions of the promise.  It is now the will of God for you to receive. Once you have faith you do not have to wonder again if it is his will.  Jesus did not have to wonder about the will of God for each individual (not that He couldn’t know it), all He had to do was to look for their faith.

“Your faith has made you whole.” not “If it is His will you will be made whole.”

There is no ‘if’ in the will of God and the promises of God. The only ‘if’ is in our believing – Jesus said to her, “Did I not say to you that if you believe, you will see the glory of God?” John 11:40

If it is His will for us to receive once we have the correct condition of heart, and if having faith in the heart is the sign of that condition being met, then everything should be about getting faith.  Faith is the key.  If we have faith for the promise then we have the promise, at least as far as God is concerned.

And maybe ‘His will’ for us is far more inclusive than we have thought.  He says that if we ‘seek first the Kingdom of God all these things (things that the Gentiles seek) will be given unto us.’  So, if we truly are seeking the Kingdom of God as a number one priority then we don’t have to question if it is His will to have these things.  Rather, the issue becomes making sure this promise is firmly planted in our heart so as to activate its respective faith.

Read what Paul says in II Corinthians 1:20

For as many as are the promises of God, in Him they are yes; therefore also through Him is our Amen to the glory of God through us.  NASB

Christ says “Yes” to all of God’s promises. That’s why we have Christ to say “Amen” for us to the glory of God. Contemporary English Version

For as many promises as are promises of God have become in Him yes and are a yes at present.  Wherefore also through Him is the Amen to the glory of God through us.  Wuest Expanded Translation

The Bible does not have the phrase, “if it be the will of God” connected in any way to any of the statements on faith or prayer.  The only place in the New Testament where it is mentioned is when it is spoken by Jesus during His despairing prayer time in the Garden.  The whole issue with His agonizing in the Garden was to seek the will of God concerning His imminent passion.  The phrase is otherwise never mentioned concerning prayer.  The only issue that Jesus looked at, and still looks at, is faith.

Listen to what these verses are actually saying

And Jesus said to him, ” ‘If You can?’ All things are possible to him who believes.” Mark 9:23 NASB

Jesus said to him, “As far as possibilities go, everything is possible for the person who believes.” Mark 9:23 Wuest Expanded Translation

Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them. Mark 11:24 KJV

If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. John 15:7 KJV

Basically, God has said, “If you can believe, I will do it.” So, the whole issue becomes, ‘do I believe?’ Can I believe? Will I do whatever it takes in seeking God and His word to get faith? If yes, then yes, if no, then no. It’s as simple as that. Only dead religion has the power to make it more complicated.

Is there a limit to the power available to those who believe? Yes, and Paul describes it for us.

I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so that you will know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power, which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places, far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the one to come. Ephesians 1:18-21

Not bad, I think that will be sufficient. Go get ’em, Tiger.

  1. I enjoy this very much I believe that when it comes to our lives what we are called to do Jesus gives us an example that we should always live our life to the will of God as he did,but when it comes to healing in our lives things that we need if we believe we have it it shall be done. In the book of Isaiah I believe it said by his stripes we are healed. So we are saved and healed if we believe and accept it. It also states the flesh is weak but the spirit is willing there walk on the spirit not in the flesh. There was also a sick man in the bible that came to Jesus and said if your will let me be healed and he answered it is your faith has made you whole something like that I am still looking for it in the bible . But thank you this was very helpful.

  2. very well said..the problem is never God but always us somehow, somewhere…

    1. I always knew this to be true in my heart but decided to seek out the truth according to the word! Now that I know the truth I am made free!

      1. This is a great explanation and definition of the FAITH that is a gift from God. Like all gifts, it has to be given (and it has that’s God’s part) and like all gifts, it needs to be received (that’s our part). So, this gift has been given to all who will receive it. This gift of faith is activated (brought to life) by belief. Yes, it’s a gift (I believe that!). Yes, it’s for me – it’s mine (I believe that!). Belief is the force/choice that activates the gift of FAITH. This “Believing Faith” will activate the truth found in God’s Word/His promises. You can’t waver in it. If you waver then you don’t totally believe it. You’ve allowed doubt to creep in, you’ve let circumstances rule the day. Instead, you rule the day with belief in the Word of God, the Faith He gives to us to be used in belief of the promises He has given to us.

  3. Matthew 26:42 – 42 – [Jesus] went away a second time and prayed, “My Father, if it is not possible for this cup to be taken away unless I drink it, may Your will be done.”
Not a bad example from the lips of the Son of God Himself! In all things, Father, I surrender my will to Yours. Your kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven! Amen and all praise to the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit!

  4. I am still re-reading this lesson but it has already arrested my attention. As always, I thank you faith mechanic for the information you put on your site. As I read, my mind sometimes wanders. The words conjure up past memories or circumstances and my mind starts to go back and relive those experiences as I remember them. I try and sort out the way things were handled (or should have been handled) with the knowledge I now have verses what I knew at the time. I am learning, praise God. Thank you! There are two sources I count on for my learning at this time. I am happy to say your website is one of the two and you are “growing me”. Thank you again
    Andy
