Man’s Position before God

God placed man on earth as His representative. God is the owner, and Man is His manager. Man answered to no one but to God Himself. He talked with God personally, walking with Him in the cool of the evening.

Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; and let them rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over the cattle and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” (27) God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. (28) God blessed them; and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it; and rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over every living thing that moves on the earth.” Genesis 1:26-28

With this responsibility came the necessary authority and dominion. Man was God’s under lord, God’s face and voice to the world. As long as man carried this mantel, man’s word would be in all respects the very word of God..

However, man disobeyed God’s word and lost his position. Exactly why the lordship of this world passed to the devil is unclear, but pass it did. The devil became the (under) god of this world, spewing lies and evil on all its inhabitants, and will continue in this capacity until the appointed time his agency comes to an end.

How can we be restored as God’s earthly representative? First, our relationship with God must be restored through the new birth. Through the work of Jesus Christ (the Second Adam), we must be ‘re-creationed’ on the inside back into the image of God. Once this occurs, our initial authority can be regained through active faith in His word. We are God’s new Ambassadors. We must accept our true place in the hierarchy of God’s Kingdom, accept responsibility for this world’s problems, and trust in the power of His word to enforce His will. This is what we should have done from the beginning.

Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come. (18) Now all these things are from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation, (19) namely, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and He has committed to us the word of reconciliation. (20) Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were making an appeal through us; we beg you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. (21) He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. 2 Corinthians 5:17-21

The Word of God

As God was speaking to man, He was giving him His word. The more He spoke the more of the word of God man was receiving. Eventually, God determined that some of it would be transferred into a book, which we now call the Bible. The Bible is as much the true living word of God as if God came to earth and spoke it to us directly. It is still the word of God, even when we repeat it out of our mouths. This word has power. It carries His power, and it will not return without doing what it was meant to do.

So will My word be which goes forth from My mouth; It will not return to Me empty, without accomplishing what I desire, and without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it. Isaiah 55:11

We are to pick up the mission that Jesus started.

Make them holy—consecrated—with the truth; Your word is consecrating truth. In the same way that you gave me a mission in the world, I give them a mission in the world. John 17:17, 18 Message Bible

We are to renew our minds with the word of God, by thinking His thoughts, and learning His ways. The more we take in the word the more we become like Him, the more we become like Him, the more we are able to walk like Him. We walk in authority when we walk under the authority of the word of God.

Jesus said to him, “I’ll come to heal him.” (8) The officer responded, “Sir, I don’t deserve to have you come into my house. But just give a command, and my servant will be healed. (9) As you know, I’m in a chain of command and have soldiers at my command. I tell one of them, ‘Go!’ and he goes, and another, ‘Come!’ and he comes. I tell my servant, ‘Do this!’ and he does it.” (10) Jesus was amazed when he heard this. He said to those who were following him, “I can guarantee this truth: I haven’t found faith as great as this in anyone in Israel. Matthew 8:7-10 God’s Word Translation

We have been given this same word to speak. And God said that He would stand behind it with miracle working power.

“If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. John 15:7

And they went out and preached everywhere, while the Lord worked with them, and confirmed the word by the signs that followed. Mark 16:20

Read, study, meditate, and then speak His word with boldness.

The Holy Spirit Within

It is the promise of the Father. The Old Testament believers could only have the Holy Spirit come upon them, but we can now have the Holy Spirit live within us.

“I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may be with you forever; (17) that is the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it does not see Him or know Him, but you know Him because He abides with you and will be in you. John 14:16, 17

The Holy Spirit was the source of Jesus’ power, when He walked on the earth, and He is to be the source of our power.

“..but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth.” Acts 1:8

Man has power because of God has sanctioned him to have power. We were created in His image, we have the word of God’s authority, and we have the Holy Spirit and power. We need nothing else. Let us walk boldly under this sanction; doing the works of God.

Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God. Romans 13:1

Comments

  1. God does not leave us powerless in this world. He entrusts us with His Spirit of power to enable us destroy the works of the devil. Be blessed

  2. yes indeed, as Christians we need to operate in such power. Its sad how we have the Holy Spirit and many times we limit him from operating . we need to act in faith and allow is power to work with in us. Am greatful for these deep words of insight.

  3. To recognize, accept and appropriate this truth will revolutionize today’s Christian, and by extension the world.
